Yalla Kalimat is a game for iPhone and iPad that helps young children say their first Arabic words (Saudi dialect) and the English alphabet. It is made by Mohammed Faqihi, an independent developer ("we").
The app keeps these in its private storage on the iPhone or iPad. It never sends them to us or to anyone else.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Game progress: levels finished, stars, coins, the hero's look (boy or girl, colours, hats) and badges | So the child continues where they left off |
| Practice per word: how often each word was found, tried and said, what the speech recogniser heard last, and counts per day | To choose which words to practise next, and for the parent's weekly summary in the Parent Corner |
| Recordings of the child's voice: the newest 5 attempts for each word, as short audio files | So the parent can listen to how the child says each word, in the Parent Corner. Older recordings are deleted automatically |
| Settings: volumes, mute, boy or girl, how strictly speech is judged | To keep the parent's choices |
| A short technical log of the screens opened and memory use | To help find the cause of a crash. It stays on the device |
The app does not ask for, and does not store, the child's name, age, photo, contacts, location or any identifier.
Yalla Kalimat is made for children aged 5 and under, to be used with a parent. We do not collect personal information from children or from anyone else, so no information is shared, sold or used for advertising. This is how we meet children's privacy laws such as COPPA in the United States and the GDPR and UK GDPR in Europe and the United Kingdom, and Saudi Arabia's Personal Data Protection Law.
The settings, the Parent Corner and the microphone request open only after a grown-up answers a sum. The same question will protect any future link out of the app or purchase.
If the app ever changes what it does with data, this policy will be updated first and the date above will change. We will not start collecting data without asking a parent first.
